Located 25km from Castres, between Toulouse, Albi and Carcassone and listed as a historical monument, Hôtel Abbaye Ecole de Sorèze is set in a former abbey in a 6 acre park. The hotel has a Wellness Centre with 12m x 5m swimming pool, massage room, fitness room and sauna.
ROOMS
The Hôtel Abbaye Ecole de Sorèze has 72 rooms in two buildings all with private bathroom and satellite TV. The "Pavillon des Hôtes" (2*) has 20 bedrooms with views on the park, the patio or the village of Sorèze - there is no lift or WiFi access.
The "Logis des Pères" (3*) has 52 rooms looking onto the Abbaye Ecole park, the cloister and the splendid Cour des Rouges and benefits from a lift and WiFi access. VFB rooms are all in the Logis des Pères.
RESTAURANT
The "Les Collets Rouges" restaurant is located in the former refectories, overlooking the splendid Cour des Rouges. The menu is made up of creative dishes using local products. In the summer,
guests are able to dine on the patio, in the shade of three-hundred-year-old sycamore trees.
IN THE AREA
Between Toulouse, Albi and Carcassonne, in the south of the Tarn, the village of Sorèze is situated on one of the last spurs of the Montagne Noire [Black Mountains], on the route to Arles. Sorèze is also ideally located for discovering the charms of the Lauragais countryside and the attractions of the Haut Languedoc Regional Nature Park. On the door-step is the picturesque village of Sorèze with its half-timbered and corbelled houses, its cobbled streets, its artists and craftspeople as well as the architecturally impressive Abbaye Ecole and its museum.
Possible visits include Castres and the Goya museum (½ hour away), the fabulous City of Carcassonne, a UNESCO heritage site (1 hour away), Albi with the cathedral of Saint Cécile, the Toulouse Lautrec museum, and of course Toulouse.
Active leisure is well catered for with hikes, horse rides, mountain biking, 4x4 trips, water sports on the nearby lakes (St Ferréol, Lampy, etc.), 8-hole golf course ½ hour away (Barouge in Pont de l’Arn and Gourgade in Castres), paragliding, gliding, etc.
