Chalet Plein Soleil is a 3-bedroomed chalet, sleeping 3 + 2 under 14 (+ baby), in a tiny hamlet, 3km S of Thônes (Haute-Savoie), 15km SW of La Clusaz, 30km SE of Annecy (Michelin map: 523). VFB is delighted to have featured this property since 1997. Saturday arrival.

A detached chalet, set on a lightly-wooded hillside at 800m between the Massif des Aravis and Mont Tournette (2351m), superb views of which can be enjoyed from the private, south and west facing balcony of this attractive property. Sloping grassy grounds (approx. 2000m²) planted with pine and fruit trees and edged with potentilla surround the property; a boules area and a sun terrace at a lower level are also available. Inside, a typical chalet ambience welcomes visitors: pine-panelling, beams, dark-wooden furniture and a decorative fireplace. Upstairs, cosy attic bedrooms are entirely of wood. With its comfortable and solid rustic-style furniture, the accommodation is extremely well-maintained and overall of a good standard. The friendly owners live some 30km away but they use a small studio at lower ground floor on arrival day. Total privacy is assured since the balcony is not at all overlooked and the nearest house is some 50m to the rear of the property. Visits in the area include the charming and lively town of Thônes, La Clusaz with limitless recreational activities, fine mountain walks around the Massif des Aravis and, of course, the lake and picturesque old town of Annecy.

Accommodation: Ground floor: living/dining room with kitchenette, 1 double-bedded room, bathroom with wc. First floor: mezzanine with single bed and 1 twin-bedded room (these rooms inter-communicate).

Activities: Swimming pool (June-September), tennis, horse riding, bicycle hire and mini-golf in Thônes. Swimming pool (all year) at le Grand Bornand (15km). Bathing and boating in Lac d’Annecy. Paragliding at La Clusaz and golf (9 holes) near Talloires (20km).

Note:  small children would need to be supervised because of steep banks and different levels in the grounds. Access to the property is via a narrow gateway and the turning space is tight

·    Bedroom 1 (2m70 x 3m90) with 1 double bed (1m40). Carpeted floor.
·    Bathroom with hip bath with shower attachment, w.c. Tiled floor.
 
First floor: steep, open-tread spiral staircase (with handrail).
 
·     Mezzanine/bedroom 2 (3m60 x 1m60) with 1 single bed (0m90). Sloping ceiling with very low headroom. Board floor. Door to bedroom 3 (low doorway).
·     Bedroom 3 (5m40 x 3m60) with 2 single beds (0m90) separated by an archway. Sloping ceiling with very low headroom. Board floor.
 
Note 1: Bedroom 3 is only accessible from bedroom 2 and has a low entrance (suitable only for children).
 
Gas for cooking included - Electricity not included (radiator in every room) - Bed linen included, household linen not available.
