An interesting conversion of a former presbytery, close to the heart of a hilltop bastide village, whose mediaeval fortress commands fine views over the wine-producing countryside to the south of the Dordogne.
ROOMS
There are 16 rooms in total, most of them small, cosy and simply but functionally decorated. Superior rooms on the second floor have sloping ceilings and are more spacious and air-conditioned.
RESTAURANT
Attractive dining room with large arched windows overlooking the garden, and terrace for summer dining. Excellent cuisine by the chef/patron and his son enjoys a good local reputation. A daily-changing menu with good choice is included.
IN THE AREA
The vineyards of Côtes de Duras, Saint-Émilion and Bergerac. Three miles away, the 20-acre Lake Castelgaillard – a splendid recreation centre with supervised beach (high season only). Musée de Parchemin next door.
