At the heart of the bocage normand, this is a handsome stone farm building, with pretty rose decorated façade, dating from the 1500s. DOU.50 occupies one part of the building; the hospitable English-speaking owners, live next door. A huge open fireplace with mediaeval stonework dominates the open plan ground floor, simply furnished and decorated with traditional items in local style. On three floors, the property is well-kept and practical with comfortable bedrooms and a second lounge/children’s room on the second floor. Guests are free to use all outdoor spaces, including extensive grassy areas but there is also a small private terrace at the rear. In the area, the village is equidistant between two coasts: the wide sandy beaches of Carteret and Portbail in the west and the picturesque fishing port of St-Vaast-la-Hougue and small seaside resort of Quinéville to the east. Impressive 17th-century château at Crossville-sur-Douve; Ste-Mère-Eglise and the Normandy Landing Beaches; the Parc Naturel Régional des Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin, 480² miles of canals and wetlands rich in plant and animal life. In a nutshell, a delightful, good value character property in an excellent location for a beach holiday in this delightful, historic region.
