Within walking distance of a typical French village, the dépendances of a sumptuous château have recently been converted into highly appealing, attractive cottages, each boasting a private swimming pool. Tastefully furnished in contemporary style, while retaining charm through original features, the property offers a high level of comfort and facilities. The charming château owners have individually restored these cottages, each one being entirely independent with pool and gardens. Exposed beams and flagstone floors are evidence to the building’s original 18th-century charm, while a smart décor combined with modern fittings lend themselves to comfortable living. The southern Vendée region has plenty of appeal, thanks to a wide range of activities for children and adults alike. Visit one of the superb abbeys nearby, notably the striking Abbaye de Maillezais with its beautiful cathedral. The adventure park in the heart of the nearby Mervent Forest is fantastic for a family day out. The stunning mediaeval town of Vouvant sits proudly above the River Vendée and has an interesting 14th-century bridge and castle.
