Maison Bersia  is a 1-bedroomed cottage, sleeping 2, on the outskirts of the small town of Barjols (Var), some 45km W of Draguignan, and 75km N of Toulon (Michelin map: 528). VFB is delighted to have featured this property since 1981. Saturday arrival.

An intimate, immaculately-presented pavillon at one end of the owners' cultivated garden and adjacent to their son's house, set in an area of light residential development within walking distance of a vibrant French village and miles of open countryside and unspoilt wooded hills. A paved area (10m wide) separates it from the owners’ house and it has its own enclosed little lawned garden with hedging, flower borders and a small terrace, where one can sit and relax in the welcome shade of a mulberry tree. The owners themselves are enthusiastic anglophiles and live in a house to the back of BER.83; their parents live in front of the rented property. The compact property is simply yet immaculately-presented and well-maintained by the very friendly retired owners, and is ideal for a couple. Barjols is a lively little provincial town set amidst some of the most attractive scenery of the Var department. Open countryside, miles and miles of unspoilt wooded hills, is only a few minutes walk away while the beautiful Lac de Ste-Croix with its water sports, trout fishing and swimming, and the magnificent Gorges of the Verdon are an easy drive away. Access to the coast at St Raphael and the Camargue to the west is also facilitated by the proximity of the A8 motorway some 20km miles away.

Accommodation: All on ground floor: porch/lounge area, kitchen/dining room, 1 double-bedded room, shower room, wc.
