The Chopin Exhibition

Overview: 3 days / 2 nights from £198 per person, valid from 8 March until 7 June 2010
All over the world, people are preparing to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Frédéric Chopin's birthday, so it seems only fitting to mark this auspicious occasion in his adopted home of Paris with an exhibition devoted to his life and works. The Musée de la Musique, in conjunction with the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, has created a wonderful exhibition offering a journey to the very heart of "Chopin's workshop". Manuscripts, paintings, drawings and musical instruments help the visitor to discover the world of this exceptional musician and composer. Naturally, entrance to both the exhibition and the permanent collections of the museum are included in this break, as is a two-night stay on a bed and breakfast basis at a choice of hand-picked, centrally-located hotels and travel direct to Paris by high-speed Eurostar™, or by air from your local airport.

Our hotels: Paris Hotels
Hand-picked for their standard, location and value for money, you can be assured that, whichever hotel you choose, you will never find yourself on the outskirts of the city, nor will you end up in one of the less fashionable areas of Paris. Instead, we offer the more attractive and romantic quarters such as the well-known Quartier Latin or La Madeleine, areas where you will always find a good choice of bars, bistros and brasseries, Métro stations and attractions close by. Due to the age and architectural design of city-centre buildings, most Parisian hotel rooms tend to be smaller than their UK counterparts (with correspondingly limited wardrobe and drawer space). However, you will always find comfortable rooms equipped with bath/wc or shower/wc, telephone and TV and double or twin beds. All hotels have a lift, but please check with us if this is important to you, as some floors may not be served. Finally, remember that if you need help choosing the hotel that suits you best, please do not hesitate to contact us – we’ll be delighted to help! Click here to download the Paris Hotels brochure.

Exhibition:
In order to commemorate the bicentenary of Frédéric Chopin's birth, the Musée de la Musique, in conjunction with the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, is delighted to host this superb exhibition featuring a journey to the very heart of "Chopin's workshop". Here are proudly displayed various manuscripts, paintings, drawings and musical instruments from Chopin's era, which give the visitor great insight into the world of this exceptional musician and composer. In addition to the visual exhibits, there will also be a series of concerts in conjunction with the Frédéric Chopin Institute of Warsaw featuring performances of Chopin's pieces using original musical instruments.

The exhibiton runs from 9 March to 6 June 2010, is closed on Mondays but is otherwise open from 1200 to 1800 daily (from 1000 on Sundays). Although you bypass initial queues for tickets, as with all major exhibitions, you may still have to queue for admission, expecially at busy times such as weekends and French bank holidays (2 April and 1, 8 & 13 May).

Our short break includes:

• or return scheduled flight from London or a selection of regional airports (supplements apply)
